Lapsang souchong have 400 years culture histories, which was imported to European market on 1610 by Hollander. before 1650, the international trade business of lapsang souchong completely under the control of Hollander, about 1644, England Eastern Indian company set up a office in Xiamen and started to involve in Bohea tea business. They competed with Holland on this business. The wars  between Holland and England broke out on 1652-1654 and 1665-1667, the Britain gradually monopolize tea trade business when they have won these two war.On 1669, The english goverment assigned the special right of running  Bohea tea business to England eatern Indian company. From that on, Lapsang souchong was imported to European market in large quantity.

 

According to history record, 1662, the Portugal princess  Cathyrin was bringing several boxes lapsang souchong tea into English basilica as part of dowry when she married with the English emperor Charlie II.As said that the empress of Britain was drinking one cup of tea everyday when she waked up. From that time, lapsang Souchong become one of treasure teas. Whereafter, Britain queen Annie advocate take tea instead of wine in royal palace, which bring this tea into swelldom. At that time, lapsang souchong was gradually turned into being "Afternoon tea" as luxury consumption product. At that time, One of english tea experters Mr.Norton appraised:" This tea much better than Ginseng soup". In the poetry of 17 century "Don Juan" also have record about Bohea tea.
